Wondering what’s the difference between a water park and a whitewater park, like the planned StreamTeach National Paddlesport Center? That’s like comparing a Ferris Wheel with a running track. A water park ride like Thunder River is a purely passive experience with no more customer control than being sprayed with a garden hose while on a Ferris Wheel. A whitewater park is like an aquatic gym, where rafters actively paddle a raft while navigating through rapids. You’re not a passenger, you’re the engine that drives the boat, and meanwhile you get as much exercise from paddling as you would from running laps—only with much more excitement.
What else? Whitewater paddling is a goal-oriented activity that’s not only a blast, but instills in its participants discipline, judgment in a team-work oriented environment—all important elements for kid’s social development. And adults have just as much fun too, with a much needed break from the office or home responsibilities. Want to learn more? Then sign up for our eNewsletter. Mike Bezemek, Editor
